Exhibiting and Showing Baskets From Cactus to Collerette's they all look good in basket's, well staged for frontal effect in domino fashion like a shield, as illustrated in the photograph at the end of this page. I tried a few Waterlily's this year, giving the collerette's a rest, with some success and here’s what I thought of some of the varieties grown. Cameo: a beautiful pale lemon colour, grows to big if disbudded, grow up as much as you possible can Nepos: a
lavender with a white base, a nice flower but tends to grow on the small side, Porcelain: white
with a lavender flush, a flower with nice form, but tends to grow on the tallish Tarahiti Ruby: carnival red had good strong stems, a nice flower that makes size easily, I’ll grow this one again Lismore Willy: Pale gold, I can not fault this one, it’s the best one I have tried. Good form, and a tall grower, it grew to 7 foot under the covers I grew eleven varieties in all, many thanks to Ivor Jones and
Ian Greenhalgh for the plants. Well done Jack for the Harrogate win in the
basket class. I have a huge sign in my garden shed back in 94, it’s still
there it
reads. “It’ll
be better next year .
